This year, Room 4 have been discussing the topics such as acceptance and diversity, as part of School Kits 'Not Part of My World' kit. We believe the world would be a better place if we could embrace the things that make us unique and accept them in others. So we decided to make this the theme of our movie.
Watch our movie below and then read the explanation
Whats really going on here? *spoilers*
Jacob (the new boy) is worried about whether he will be accepted in his new school. There is something about him that makes him appear different, which we have represented through face paint. The face paint is just a symbol, it could represent culture or gender or any other quality that make us different from one another. The boy's classmates later paint their faces, which represents them embracing the things that make them unique and they celebrate the diversity in their classroom.
We got the idea from this short film as we thought it had a really lovely message and it was funny!
Hi Room 4, I'm Anamaria a year 7 student from St Patrick's School. I like how this movie represents how different we are from one another and using face paint to represent our culture & gender. ReplyDeleteHey Room 4, this movie is a great represetation of being a good friend/s and this is especially true for different races in New Zealand. Because racism is a big factor in terrorist attacks. And the unfortunate of the March 15 make this more important and a bit emotional.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Charis from St Pius X Catholic School,I love the way you tell/show the audience that its okay to be different and it's okay to express yourself, When I first watched your movie the part I liked the best was the part when they all started painting on their faces was funny and amusing. The next time you do another movie you could improve on finding a different location because does it always have to be in a classroom?, it could also be outside or somewhere out of school but anyway you did a fantastic job on presenting the movie I really hope the next years film festival will be better.
KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC AND AMAZING WORK ROOM 4!!!!!,

ReplyDeleteTalofa lava room 4!It's me Jarreka,I really enjoyed your story!it has a lot of meaning to it,being different, original, particular and unusual is one way to be unique~Lots of people are loved because they are different in their own way and sometimes being different to others can cause a lot of problems, bullying, mercenary, stingy and selfish is what most people do to others if they are different. Most of those kinds of people are just people who like to do whatever they want, they also think they are high-above others those are people who don't really care about different people.Being different isn't so bad,so being rude to others is selfish and annoying for them, especially when it means talking about them when really it's not needed. It's mean when you bully people and don't even know what they are going through,so before you speak you should stop and think (what have they been through?,what happend in their past?) think before you speak,You don't have to be different to be high-above others, people may just love you for who you are.
ReplyDeleteAnd this story really showed that and i really enjoyed it~thank you!
Kia ora Room 4, it was very nice how everyone didn't say words about you but being like you and loving the difference you are.
ReplyDeleteMalo Lelei,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Dianne from St Pius X School attending as a year 7 and I think that this is a very powerful message to people. I think that it is a very creative idea to put paint on your faces, because you are making Jacob feel unique.
For the teachers maybe you could of used students instead of teachers so that the students can feel like they are a part of the movie. Either than that everything was perfect.
Keep up the amazing work.
Kind Regards,
Dianne
