Amelia's Summer learning journey

Check out some of the activities that Amelia has completed this summer!

Activity 2: Black Train
Polluted Rivers!

There are many polluted rivers in our New Zealand area. Some of these problems are due to people either not choosing to look after our area or farmers who are not making the right choices. In this presentation I am talking about two polluted rivers in New Zealand. I’ve also talked about in this presentation is how far they are doing and if? What they are doing to help the river improve. It’s funny because half way through this task I realised that I have seen one of those rivers (The Ruamahanga River).

Activity 3: Faded Glory
Save the Great Barrier Reef

  1. The first thing I would do to save the Great Barrier Reef is create a huge Great Barrier Reef theme water park. This will help people get to know more about the reef and why we need to keep it but in a fun and exciting way! The water park will fun and educational for kids and also a great water park for parents to relax and get to know more about the Great Barrier Reef. This will be great in New Zealand because it’s very hot and sunny nowadays. Finally all money will be collected and sent to the Australian Government.
  2. Secondly, Haunted houses have been really popular lately so I decided to create a Haunted Sea House. I know it sounds kinda weird but hear be out! The haunted house will be about a old man who used to study a lot about the reef but died from drowning. (This is all fake). This haunted house will be a easy $2 entry. By lowering the price it will help lure in the folks therefore we can fund raise more cash and send it to Aussie!
  3. Finally, the last thing I would do to help fund raise for the Great Barrier Reef is Skydiving. It’s not just going to be a random skydiving place it’s going to be next to the Great Barrier Reef. I selected this idea because when the visitors come to skydive they get a thrilling experience but not only that visitors get to have a beautiful view of the reef from high above. As always all the money can go to the Australian government to help this problem!

Task Description: Today for SLJ the title is called The Black Drain. These activities were based on the sea and rivers. The first task was about overfishing. We were asked to share what we think if charging people for overfishing up to $100 000 is fair. The second task was about water based pollution. There are many polluted rivers in New Zealand that we have to take care of. For the task we had to find two polluted rivers in New Zealand then write about what they have been working on to fix the problem. The final task was about the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. The reef is said to be slowly dying and the government are paying a lot to fix this problem. Our task was to write down three different ways that we can fund raise to help save the Great Barrier Reef. I hope you enjoyed today's tasks! Make sure to stay tune for more posts.
